Walks in the Le Touquet Area

If you enjoy walking you’ll relish being in Le Touquet. For a start, the town itself is very compact and has large traffic free areas -- so it’s easy to amble about the town without ever moving the car from the car park. Along the whole length of the sea front there is an ideal traditional promenade that’s just made for strolling. The Bureau de Tourisme, found opposite the Hotel Westminster, will provide a free brochure of various walks in the local area called ‘Promenez Vous’. They also offer the highly recommended 'Mer et terres d'Opale' - an excellent folder of 13 mapped walks.

GR paths
The French have an established network of marked national trails known as Grande Randonnee (GR). These paths can go on for hundreds of miles or you can just walk a section to suit. One of these trails, the GR120, leaves Le Touquet from the south end of the sea front and passes right along the shore for 15 miles south. The majority of the path is along the water's edge and passes through sand dunes, marsh and rough shore grasses. Refreshments are available at Stella Plage, 3.5 miles, Merlimont, 4.5 miles, and Berck, 8 miles. Alternatively the GR 121 passes by at Enocq just 6 miles inland from Le Touquet on the N39 to Montreuil.
