La Foret Golf Course at Le Touquet

La Foret is a course in transition. Upgrades and improvements made in 2004 are now maturing. La Foret is beginning to rival La Mer and Hardelot's Pines courses for examination of your game and enjoyment. Unlike its slightly more serious cousin, La Mer, La Foret is calmer, friendlier, and less difficult. Set in a pine grove, with water traps and plenty of mischeivous bunker locations, it's a sensible option if you're more of a casual golfer.

Each hole seems to suck you in and beg you to really go for it, only to make you pay with well protected greens and tricky lies. Holes 4 and 10 require some verve to drive over the trees, 6 tests your swing with a really awkwardly positioned stream crossing the fairway. 14 is a serious challenge, dogleg left with visciously positoned bunkers protecting the green. 15 is an attractive new hole, 17 is a very pretty short par 3.

The clubhouse, shared with La Mer, is renowned for its excellent hospitality and well equipped pro shop. Carts and caddies are available to hire. A practice range and putting green are onsite for that bit of extra work.
