What can't you do in Le Touquet
Quite honestly - there is so much to do all year round in Le Touquet that it’s a problem to try and capture it all - really quite mind boggling. The Bureau du Tourisme ensures that there is an endless stream of major events and concerts taking place throughout the year. In February this year Le Touquet staged the biggest track bike and quad event in the world - over 1000 motorbikes and 500 quads racing over the sand dunes. There a big two day music festival in June 'La fete de la Musique'. In August they are having a week long piano festival that will entail placing dozens of pianos and pianists in the street artists. It really does just goes on and on.
Sports opportunities are also exceptional. I won’t even begin to tell you about the 5 golf courses that are all delighted to welcome British visitors - one has hosted the Open 6 times. Le Touquet has the 4th biggest tennis academy in France with over 33 courts and a centre court that holds just under 1000 spectators - the Davis cup junior competition is held here - see events. The Centre Equestre has the most extensive horse riding facilities you could wish for with over 45 km of bridle paths. Le Touquet is also a huge Sand yachting venue - lessons and hire available - it really looks like a great buzz.
Nature: Bird watchers can twitch till their hearts content - there are several coastal bird sanctuaries - the biggest about 30 minutes south is the remarkable Parc du Marquenterre at the Baie de Somme. Walking opportunities are superb - you can walk 8 miles along the expansive firm sand along the waters edge or meander along La Canche. There are no less than 3 GR paths that are within 15 minutes easy reach.
